INTRODUCTION BY THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BRITISH-UKRAINIAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The British Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce (BUCC) was originally established in 1997 to promote trade and investment between the United Kingdom and Ukraine. Since then, it has broadened its approach significantly and now promotes business internationally between Ukraine and a wide range of regions including Europe, North and South America, the Far East and the Former Soviet Union. The Chamber is registered in the UK and carries out its activities principally in Kyiv and London.

The BUCC draws its membership from Ukrainian, British and international companies, organisations and individuals and this helps to ensure that the broadest spectrum of government, business and society is accessed both within Ukraine and abroad. This provides a unique opportunity to develop an understanding of business, commercial, trade and cultural issues between Ukraine and other countries and to address these issues in the promotion of multilateral relationships.

The British Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce brings together British and international companies and individuals wishing to focus on the Ukrainian market, and offers assistance to Ukrainian companies and individuals wishing to establish business, commercial and trade relationships in the United Kingdom and worldwide.

The benefits of BUCC membership include:

Knowledge and Information: Most foreign companies know very little about doing business in Ukraine. The Chamber offers in-depth knowledge of business, commercial, trade and cultural issues in Ukraine and how to establish and develop business successfully in the country. Many Ukrainian companies and individuals are aware of opportunities outside Ukraine but do not know how to access them. The Chamber has an extensive range of experience and expertise within its membership which can be used to access business opportunities in the UK and abroad.

Networking:
•Assistance in establishing and maintaining valuable business contacts through the provision of regular information and social events.
•Round-table/discussion groups with selected speakers and VIPs from Ukraine and abroad.
•Social functions with a range of important Ukrainian and international guests.

Sincere regards to all,

British-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce

The Energy Regulators Regional Association (ERRA) is a voluntary organization comprising of independent energy regulatory bodies primarily from Europe, Asia, Africa, Middle East and the United States of America.

ERRA began as a cooperative exchange among 12 energy regulatory bodies. The U.S. National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC), through a Cooperative Agreement with the US Agency for International Development (USAID), provided technical forums, meetings and study tours for the energy regulators of the above region from 1999-2008. During these meetings, the participants expressed the need for an association similar to NARUC that could offer a more formal platform for exchanging experiences and ideas to better learn from each other’s experiences. In 1999, an ad-hoc Steering Committee began development of the structural and operational elements of the future association, including its purpose and objectives. In December 2000, a Constitution was signed by 15 members that established the ERRA in Bucharest. USAID’s long-term support ensured that ERRA developed into an internationally-recognized association that achieved operational, financial and programmatic sustainability.
